I have kept myself busy whipping up some new crown designs this week and I have even (after many requests) tried my hand at one suitable for boys. This is not my area of expertise so those of you with boys out there, please let me know what you think!

I have been working on some new crowns and some Christmas decorations (photos will come soon) now that the health dramas and franticness of three different productions in one term has passed. These are the first two.

I am really fond of the bird crown (as are my girls) and love the bright pink and the mint green together. While making the other crown I was assisted by a nearly two year old leaning on my arm and consequently the sewing is not quite up to standard! Nothing major, but a few wonky lines (particularly on the cupcake) so I will be making more for sale but thought someone out there might like this one as it seems a shame to have it sitting in a box doing nothing for years. So I decided to make it an international giveaway for anyone who is interested, just leave a comment on this post about something you like or would like to see on my site and I will draw a random name on Monday 12th October. It has the usual covered elastic back and is a slightly smaller size to fit from around 18 months to 6 years, so if you know any little girls who would like a crown and don’t mind wonky lines on their cupcakes, get commenting!

Some classical music, sparkly dresses & felt crowns make for a twirling & dancing pair of princesses before bed.

I have felt like I have been very busy over the last week but have very little to show for it. Poor Phoebe has had the chicken pox and has been feeling very grumpy and unwell but I have managed to finally make the hooks for the back of Ella’s door, I have made decorations for Ella’s windows which I put without photographing and now I just can’t get a decent photo of them with the dismal weather & the brightness of the window behind them, and I have started but am yet to finish several other small projects – gathering materials & changing my mind a hundred times (nothing too unusual about that).

And then there is my new passtime of playing with polyshrink plastic! I vaguely remember getting something like this in a cereal packet when I was little but when I came across sheets of it in a local scrapbooking shop, I got very excited by the possibilities & the simplicity, so Ella & I have both been busy doodling and shrinking. Ella was more excited about making a tag for her friend Mya than doing things for herself which was sweet, but she is keen to buy some hairclips to attach the little discs to. I have found some great tutorials for pins from Tutti Frutti, for rings from Planet June and I yet to try anything as complicated as Jessica Poundstone’s YouTube tutorial for shrink plastic jewellery. My first attempt at a ring did not even come close to being round but by number three I was getting the hang of it. I am now working on some cute little bird brooches so watch this space!
I had my very first Etsy sale a couple of weeks ago – yay – and I have finally managed some more crowns for my shop (s0me more are still in progress).

And in between all this I added our favourite recipe for playdough to my pages and forgot to post anything about it. It is the best playdough recipe and my little ones love being able to help choose their own colours etc.
Well, what a confusing rant, I hope you can follow that, maybe I will get some more sleep and be more mentally organised tomorrow!

I have been so inspired by all the fantastic craft blogs I have been reading that I have decided to start my own. Not strictly craft but also general family stuff and anything else that captures my interest. I have been procrastinating over this for months but the New Year seems like a good time to start a new project so here goes!

These are the New Years Eve felt crowns I made for my two wee girls which, despite my doubts, were fortunately very well received by both. Ella was especially fond of hers & it has barely left her head – she has even slept in it! She is now convinced that her & Phoebe are actual princesses & require glittery princess dresses – another thing to add to the project list.
