Poppy Cat's Farm

Poppy Cat is a favourite character of both my girls & we just love this bright board book with its peeping windows.  We have had great fun making all the animal noises, counting the animals on each page & learning the names of the baby animals.

Never Too Little To Love – Jeanne Willis & Jan Fearnley

Never Too Little To Love

A sweet book that has been a favourite of Ella’s & now Phoebe is beginning to enjoy.  It tells the story of Tiny-Too-Little who is trying to reach his giraffe love to give her a kiss but it’s a “long, long way up if you’re Tiny and you really need a kiss”.  He stands one thing after another trying to get high enough until it all crashes down but it all ends happily showing that “you are never Too-Little to love”.

Why Is The Sky Blue?

This is a wonderful book we bought for Ella’s birthday while on a trip to Te Papa.  It probably would have been best for her fourth birthday but it was so great I just couldn’t resist!  It has lots of questions that children ask with informative answers under flaps, pull out tabs & turning wheels placed throughout the lovely illustrations.

Published by Ladybird.

Oliver's Party

A book by New Zealand authors about Oliver the cat & his owner Mrs Bundy which is loved for its bold & bright illustrations  & the amusing tale of Oliver’s adventure as he tries to understand exactly what is going on inside his house.

This is Phoebe’s favourite book of the moment with a day in the life of Dimity Duck & her friend Frumity Frog.  I just love the onomatopoeic language – “Wiggle-waggle goes her tail & pump! goes her feet” – it is great fun to read aloud!

The Night Pirates – Peter Harris  & Deborah Allwright

A great book gifted to Ella from a friend in the UK which we took an instant shine to with the “rough, tough, little girl pirates”  (who steal the front of Tom’s house to disguise their pirate ship) & the fantastic illustrations.
